i spent my sunday night reading tagalog pocketbooks... as usual. and since i'm reading a story by one of my favorite authors, i ended laughing so hard in the middle of night.
the author's name was vanessa and her stories are really entertaining. most of it made me laugh. just like the story i read. it revolves around a poor girl named liwayway who witnessed a murder when she was working as a maid. she ran away by jumping through the window into the pool. later, she met malcolm who helped her clear her name after her name was all over the news saying that she was the suspect of the murder.
however, the parts that i really enjoyed in the was during the first time liwayway or liwee (the way malcolm calls her) and malcolm conversation, and when liwee and shirly (the mean girl who likes malcolm). here's some of the conversations they had:
malcolm: can you be a call center agent? are you good in english?
liwee: so much.
malcolm: can you type?
liwee: surely.
malcolm: how fast can you speak english and type? can you do both?
liwee: very fast, double time. like marathon, fast.

liwee: what? no rice?
malcolm: i'm afraid i don;t know how to cook rice.
liwee: why are you afraid? it's easy! you have rice here? like bigas?
liwee: what? no rice? forever? i can;t eat no rice. i have rice always... in the morning, in the noontime, and in the evening. that's why i' strong though i'm only five three.

liwee: monkey? me?
shirly: shut up monkey girl!
liwee: ah, monkey girl, ah! ha ha! so very funny. you girl so crazy. it's you to shut up one last time this time on me! you tell me i'm monkey. why? because i am not rich like you? because i am not clothes like you? because you go to school and i don't? you're eyeing on me like that, ha? well, for your information, i am malcolm only one and only, okay?
